How to Draw a Cow Step by Step
Follow these cow drawing step by step instructions. Go slowly, and remember your cow does not need to be perfect. Every line you draw helps your hand get steadier and more confident.
Step 1: Draw the Head
Start by drawing a circle near the top of your paper. This will be your cow’s head. Draw it lightly so it is easy to fix later.

Step 2: Add the Muzzle
On the lower-right side of the head, draw an oval. This is the cow’s muzzle, which is the big soft nose and mouth area. It can overlap the circle a little.

Step 3: Draw the First Ear
On the left side of the head, draw a floppy ear shaped like a leaf. Cows have wide, soft ears that stick out to the sides.

Step 4: Draw the Second Ear
Now draw a matching ear on the right side of the head. Try to make it about the same size as the first ear. Keeping both sides even is called symmetry, and it makes your cow look balanced.

Step 5: Add the Horns
Between the ears, draw two short, curved horns on top of the head. Keep them small and rounded so your cow stays cute and friendly.

Step 6: Draw the Eyes and Nostrils
Draw two round eyes above the muzzle. Color them in, but leave a tiny white dot in each one to make them sparkle. Then add two small nostrils inside the muzzle.

Step 7: Start the Body
Below the head, begin drawing the body. Start with a curved line for the chest and the top of the back. Your cow is starting to take shape!

Step 8: Add the Front Legs
Draw two short, stubby front legs under the body. Cows in this cute style have chunky little legs, so keep them thick and short.

Step 9: Add the Back Legs
Now add the back legs and finish the bottom line of the body. Your cow can now stand up on all four legs.

Step 10: Start the Tail
At the back of the cow, draw a thin curved line for the tail. It should hang down along the side of the body.

Step 11: Finish the Tail
Add a small fluffy tuft at the end of the tail, like a little paintbrush. This is what real cow tails look like!

Step 12: Add Spots and a Smile
Now give your cow its famous spots. Draw a few rounded blobs on the body and around one eye. Then add a small curved line for a happy smile under the muzzle. These spots make your cow look just like a real one.

Step 13: Trace Your Final Lines
Go over your favorite lines with a black marker, then gently erase any extra pencil marks. You now have a clean cow outline. This makes a great cow coloring page all on its own!

Step 14: Color Your Cow
Now for the fun part: coloring! Many cows are white with black spots, but you can also make them brown and white. Color the muzzle and inner ears soft pink, and your cow is finished and adorable. It is your art, so use any colors you love!
