What Colour Is a Capybara?
Real capybaras are reddish-brown to greyish-brown, a little darker along the back and paler underneath. Their coarse fur can look almost golden in bright sun. Babies are usually lighter than adults.
That said, brown is genuinely tricky to get right with crayons. The easiest trick is to mix rather than reach for the brown in the box: orange laid over a little green gives a warm, natural capybara colour, because complementary colours cancel each other
into a neutral. Orange over blue works too, though it leans cooler and greyer. And if your child wants a purple capybara, let them have a purple capybara.
