How to Color a Rubber Duck That Looks Shiny

  1. Start with a light yellow all over, then add a deeper yellow or orange-yellow along the bottom and under the wing for shadow.
  2. Leave a small white spot on the head and the back. That little “shine” is what makes it look like a plastic toy.
  3. Color the beak orange, a little darker where it meets the face.
  4. For water, use two blues: light at the top, darker at the bottom. Leave the bubbles white or give them a pale outline.
  5. Break the rules. Real rubber ducks come in pink, purple, rainbow stripes and even black and gold.
